Christina is a lifelong learner and advocate for education, driven by her love of language and its power to create meaningful connections. As a non-native Spanish speaker who has mastered the language so fluently she is often mistaken for a native, Christina embodies the journey she now guides others through.
Her path began in Macon, Georgia, where she first taught Spanish, followed by over five years of teaching in the Bronx, New York City. These experiences revealed the systemic challenges faced by Black and Brown youth in accessing quality language education and sparked her belief in the transformative potential of language learning. She came to understand that acquiring a new language isn’t just about words—it’s about building confidence, fostering self-expression, and connecting with diverse cultures.
Christina founded Yaprendí to help others embark on their own language journeys. The platform offers personalized coaching and structured and unstructured Spanish and English conversation practice, emphasizing cultural relevance and the diverse experiences of learners. Through Yaprendí, Christina aims to create a safe, supportive community where learners can embrace the discomfort of language acquisition, celebrate their progress, and gain confidence in speaking, reading, writing, and listening.
As a high school Spanish teacher, Christina draws from her own experience as a second-language learner to inspire and guide her students. She understands the challenges of the journey firsthand and is passionate about helping others overcome them. Her ultimate goal is to foster a community of like-minded individuals who share a love for travel, connection, and the joy of learning languages.
Through her growing language exchange community on Skool.com Christina is building a space for learners to connect, practice, and grow together. Christina’s vision for Yaprendí is one of inclusivity, empowerment, and shared passion for language and culture.
